Easter or Ressurection Day?

Easter or Ressurection Sunday?

Originally, Easter was a pagan celebration marking the spring equinox, symbolizing renewal and fertility. It was the worship of the ancient goddess Ēostre, (fallen angel) also known as Ostara. She is a Germanic goddess linked to spring, dawn, and renewal.

The Catholic Church played a significant role in shaping the celebration of Easter as it is known today, aligning the themes of rebirth with their faith. This practice goes back to ancient Rome from where the Catholic Church comes from.  Rome would conquer a nation and allow them to continue to worship their own gods, as long as they didn’t cause Rome any trouble.

The Roman leader Constantine the Great, accepted Christianity but in the form of Catholocism. Mixing their god and goddess beliefs with the new faith of Christianity. This is when many of the celebrations became mixed such as Easter and Ressurection Day, and Passover.  Jesus did not resurrect on Easter.  He died on Passover, He was in the grave on Feast of Unleavened Bread, and He rose from the dead on Feast of First Fruits, all on the Jewish calendar given by God to Moses while they were still in Egypt, Exodus 12:1-2. The Catholic church denies this, but history does not lie. This strategic incorporation helped Christianity spread by blending familiar customs with new religious significance. Also, the Catholic Church, assigned the holiday to their Roman calendar, not the Jewish calendar.  The Jews were celebrating the Feast of Passover at the same time as the pagan were celebrating Easter.

Second, the practice of missionary adaption or declaring that all or part of the local unbiblical practices is actually biblicalm, led to the Catholics declaring that the Rites of “Estarti”were actually Passover leading to confusion and the continuation of egg hunts.

Early Christians, including those in the Catholic tradition, began commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ around the time of the Jewish Passover, as the events of the crucifixion and resurrection occurred during that period. Over time, this celebration evolved into what we now call Easter, blending Christian theology with some pre-existing pagan cultural and seasonal traditions.

Herod was a pagan, and the KJV is the ONLY version that renders correctly the word Easter in Acts 12:4. This is no doubt the reason the KJV Translators used the term Easter. The NT translates the Greek word for "pascha" as "passover" 28 out of 29 times. This is the ONLY time there is a deviation in this practice and only in the KJV.

So no, we don’t celebrate Easter, we celebrate the Ressurection!

Blessings
