We’re taught sensitivity today. “Be sensitive to other’s feelings and opinions.” It doesn’t seem to me that anyone is being sensitive, they’re plowing right through and over!
If I know someone is not a believer in Messiah Jesus Christ, then I tend to hold back. But the Lord is dealing with me on this! Unbelievers don’t hold back, so why should I? Why should I change the way I live and talk for them, when they don’t for me? And beyond that, the Lord is showing me, if I hold back, how will they know? How will they hear? How will they see?
I am ordained in the Church of God Cleveland TN, but I consider myself a teacher. If I don’t teach, they can’t hear and they won’t know. Paul said this very thing! In fact there is a lot in the Bible about hearing the Gospel.
For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened. Heb 4:2
Because they hear does not mean they will respond, but if they don’t hear, because we believers hold back, so as not to offend, how could they respond? They can’t because they wouldn’t have heard!
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Rom 10:14-15
But it’s not solely up to the preacher. It’s up to every believer because you and I both know sinners don’t go to church looking for God. They rarely go to church at all. Church is for believers and seekers. They don’t even know their sinners! They don’t know they need God.
Don’t hide who you really are. If you do, they may never come to the knowledge of the truth. So let it fly! Let you be you! Come out of the closet! Stop holding back because a soul may just be depending on you.
No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. Luke 11:33
