Cracked Foundation

Cracked Foundation

We met a man who was on fire and passionate for Jesus. A very intelligent, well spoken man, but he’s talked himself out of the rapture. His foundation is faulty, thinking that we must be squeezed, in order to find salvation. He doesn’t understand the big picture, but rather, he is focusing with a pin hole view of particular words, losing the cohesiveness of scripture, primarily that Jesus, the spotless Lamb, paid a price that no squeezing, no torture applied to us could pay.

If a persons foundation is not right when it comes to Jesus on the Cross, even if they have some other wonderful insights, should we listen to them? If someone does not believe in the rapture, not understanding that God has always made a way out for His people, because we are not appointed to His wrath to come; wrath on a wicked, unredeemed world, should we put ourselves under their teachings and insight in other matters of the Word?

If someone has unbelievable in-site into healing, but they miss foundational truths of the Trinity, of why Jesus died, what He did the 3 days He was dead and why we are not appointed to wrath, should we listen to their teaching on healing?

I have thought a lot about this. I have in fact and still do in some cases, listen to people who are not filled with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and who may have shallow, if any understanding of the rapture, the catching away of the saints, but should I? Should I take council from them? I’m not going to tell you what to do, but I will leave you with this thought: “Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God.” – Hebrews 6:1

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” – Psalms 127:1

Let’s guard ourselves by building on the right foundation. A foundation laid by Jesus and expounded on by the Law and the Prophets and revealed by revelation through and by the Holy Spirit, and yet  never contradicts any other part of the Word. It’s just too risky to trust our understanding with someone whose foundation is cracked!

Blessings
