Jesus picked 12 men to be His disciples. Think about that. Only 12!!!! Can you imagine being one of them? They had no clue! They simply responded to a supernatural call, not having any understanding what so ever of what they were agreeing to.
What is a disciple? It is a student or apprentice. We learn from Him, do it like Him and eventually begin to act like Him. But how many of us are actually looking like Him?
As Francis Chan said in his book Multiply, “Hey, would you guys mind identifying yourselves with me in someway? Don’t worry, I don’t actually care if you do anything I do or change your lifestyle at all. I’m just looking for people who are willing to say they believe in me and call themselves Christians.” Seriously?
If you had an apprentice in your business, is this the type of employee you want? One that gets a paycheck, but actually does nothing, and does not benefit you or nor the business in any way? How long would you keep them? No, your patience would run out.
Jesus is very patient, but eventually His patience runs out. The day comes when we are held accountable for what we did with the Savior of the world. That will be all that counts! Are you His Disciple?
