Love Is Love, or is it? Let’s see what love is not: 1 Cor 13:4-7
Love is not rude
Love is not self seeking
Love is not easily angered
Love forgets wrongs
Love hates evil
True love produces life.
From Gen 38 we find today’s self-serving love that most of us have dealt with in some form or fashion in the story of Onan and Tamar.
“Onanism” is an older term that historically referred to the biblical figure Onan, who "spilled his seed on the ground" rather than fulfilling his duty of procreation in the Book of Genesis. Over time, the word came to be used more broadly as a synonym for masturbation or other non-procreative sexual act. That would include homosexuality and anything that is selfish and does not produce life, is Onanism. Pornography can go in there as well.
Love is not self seeking, period. If we run our motives, habits, desires through the true definition of love, it sure sheds a different light; what we think is love and what God made love to be.
Onanism is sinning against your self. When we believe lies and act out selfishly through sexual acts, that is not love. It’s self-sabotage. It’s against God and further separates a person from God. It’s sin against one’s own body.
Homosexuality brings death. Pornography brings death. Transgenderism brings death. So no, love is not love. Love is what God made and what He says love is. Do it His way and stop suffering under what culture says is love.
