Earth Dwellers

“All who dwell on the earth will worship it [the beast], everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.” — Revelation 13:8 (ESV)

Throughout the book of Revelation, the phrase “those who dwell on the earth” is used not just to describe physical residence, but spiritual allegiance. These “earth dwellers” are often portrayed as those who reject God’s truth and align themselves with worldly systems, values, and powers.

But Scripture also speaks of another kind of dwelling — one that is rooted in heaven. Paul reminds us in Philippians 3:20 that “our citizenship is in heaven.” Jesus prayed in John 17 that His followers would be in the world but not of it.
So the question becomes: Where do you dwell? Not just physically, but spiritually. Are your hopes, dreams, and identity anchored in the temporary things of this world, or in the eternal promises of God?

Take a moment to reflect on where your heart “dwells.” Are there areas where you’ve become too comfortable with the world’s values? Ask God to realign your focus and renew your heavenly perspective.
