Sacred in the Small Things
Scripture: "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." — Proverbs 3:6
In Jewish tradition, there is a beautiful rhythm of blessing—berakhot—woven into the fabric of daily life. From the moment one wakes up to the final breath before sleep, there are prayers for everything: for food, for nature, for new experiences, for survival, for joy. Nothing is too small or too ordinary to be sanctified.
Imagine pausing before biting into a crisp apple and whispering thanks for the tree that bore it. Or seeing a rainbow and responding not with a photo, but with a prayer. This practice isn’t about ritual for ritual’s sake—it’s about training the heart to notice. To notice the Giver in every gift. To see the sacred in the seemingly mundane.
We often wait for the “big moments” to feel close to God—worship services, holidays, breakthroughs. But what if the holiest moments are hidden in the ordinary? What if the divine is whispering through your morning coffee, your child’s laughter, the warmth of sunlight on your skin?
Today, try to live with blessing-awareness. Before each meal, pause and give thanks. When you see something beautiful, say aloud, “Thank You, God.” When you complete a task, whisper a prayer of gratitude. Let your day become an opportunity to love the Lord and to be thankful for Him.
