A Heart Issue

We were talking about our lives and the progression of them. I had a heart to follow the Lord, but as my dear husband said, “You didn’t know how.” So very true! We were floundering out there in a world of sin. Even the church didn’t have the right guidance we needed. The world always pulling, people constantly criticizing, life happening. But yet, to our amazement God never left us, no matter how bad it got!

God put Abraham to sleep when he made a covenant with him, because he knew Abraham could not uphold his end of the bargain. God put Adam to sleep when he took a rib and formed Eve. Adam didn’t know he needed a help-meet! God put king Saul and his men to sleep allowing David to slip in, take Saul’s spear and water jug. And of course there’s plenty of metaphor concerning spiritual sleep in the Bible. These stories hit my mind when my friend in conversation said, “I asked the Lord to do some things when I’m not looking.” That really struck me! He really meant that! It so reminded of my life and after talking with my husband today and remembering where we’ve come from, we realized that God was indeed working while we weren’t looking! He was working inspite of us. So why us, but seemingly not others? Because our hearts wanted it, but me especially didn’t have much of a foundation. God gave my husband a fortitude to stay with me. God used him in my life and then God was able to use me in his life, to be the help meet He designed me to be, to exemplify Christ and the church. Marriage is an object lesson to teach of Christ and the church, but without a relationship with Him and the proper teaching, it’s a battle of the wills. But praise You Jesus, that while I wasn’t looking, You were working in spite of me, to bring me where my heart really wanted to be. Yes, it’s a heart issue.

Blessings
