A Conversation With God
Habakkuk is a conversation between Habakkuk and God. Habakkuk is upset at what is going on in his nation and with his people. He’s questioning God. (sound familiar?) Although he knows all about God and describes his attributes eloquently, in the beginning he can only focus on the bad that is going on, his circumstances to be exact. But after complaining and questioning God, and God answering him, telling him what was going on and why, Habakkuk saw the wisdom in the situation and changed his focus. He stopped looking at the circumstances that he didn’t understand, and began to look at them differently. He saw things through God’s eyes. He saw the wisdom in God’s actions. It’s lovely in chapter 3 how he shifts his gaze from his circumstances and chooses to gaze and focus on the Lord. He realized in Whose wise hands he was in! Listen to his optimism:
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and no fruit is on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though the sheep are cut off from the fold
and no cattle are in the stalls,
18 yet I will exult in the LORD;
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!
19 GOD the Lord is my strength;
He makes my feet like those of a deer;
He makes me walk upon the heights!
Can you concur? The only way is to KNOW Gods character and to KNOW what He thinks of you. Prepare today!
