God Is Good No Matter Your Age
Wendell Cross of Fannin county GA, now “graduated”, had an awesome story that I happened to run across. Growing up in Appalachia, in North Carolina, he and his siblings found a stick of dynamite and playing with it, it exploded in his face. Wendell was blind for the next 10 years, until he could save enough money, including his brothers helping, to have an operation. Completing the third grade only, Wendell never learned to read and later in life he lost one eye completely in another accident! He made a living as a farmer but illiteracy followed him all of his life. He longed to read and struggled with life as an illiterate, but at age 70 a Good Samaritan named Colonel Poole of Ellijay, GA offered to teach Wendell how to read, changing Wendell’s life! Wendell worked hard at learning to read. At 70 I’m sure it wasn’t easy, but he stuck with it and actually became quite a famous character in the area and even became a speaker and advocate for reading! This story was such a great one and took me back to a simpler time, but also reminded me of the scripture “ALL things WILL work together for GOOD for those who love God and are called according to His service,” (Rom 8:28).
If you’re living your life with Christ at the center, nothing is beyond your grasp! NOTHING! But here’s the key, you must choose Christ! You must choose to walk in faith. You must choose to know the truth that He is for you and not against you. You must choose to think different. You must choose to side against Satan and choose to agree with God. If you do these things, nothing can hold you back, no matter your age! God is so good, who would not want to know Him? Wendell sure was glad He did!
