The Old Testament explains the New Testament. Without the old, we would not understand the new!
Judges 3:9-10 explains the New Testament gift of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. The mind has such a hard time understanding the book of Acts and the supernatural infilling of God’s Spirit, but here it is in its most simplistic form in Judges.
9 But when the Israelites cried out to the Lord [for help], the Lord raised up a man to rescue the people of Israel, the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. 10 The Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord gave Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand, and he prevailed over Cushan-rishathaim.
As usual His people had disobeyed, sinned and were enslaved but when they called out, God heard! He raised up a young man to deliver them and never expected the young man to do it in his own power, for that was impossible! No, God filled the young man with His own Holy Spirit, so that like God, the young man was filled with God’s power, and he won! This is the very same thing that God desires for ALL of us today! To live in His power, to overcome the enemy of this life. Now, go read Acts and allow God to fill you with His power! Jesus said He had to go, so the Holy Spirit could come for YOU. You’re not alone!
