Able To Rest

I never understood Roman’s Chapter 5. The key to understanding it is in verse 1. “Therefore, since we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us (grasp the fact that we) have (the peace of reconciliation to  hold and to enjoy) peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).”

I wish I had the space to quote the whole chapter but in vs 2, I can sum it up with “think of yourself as God’s favorite!” Isn’t that what John did, in referencing himself as “the one that Jesus loved?” John got it!

Vs 3 we are to be joyful through every situation, KNOWING that because I am His favorite, He will be with me through every bad situation. Paul says rejoice in difficulty! How? By knowing who you are in Him and understanding what He did for you! What did He do? We read it in verse 1! He made us right with God!!! Rejoice!!!!

Vs 4 as we walk through difficult times and we see our ABBA deliver us, we mature and grow stronger and we are filled with great expectation.

Vs 5 by the working of the Holy Spirit, we can REST. I don’t have to freak-out in stressful situations; I can rest, knowing I am loved and my ABBA will figure it out for me.

Vs 6 -10 God is not mad at me. He loves me and Jesus paid for my sin. I can now REST in my Fathers love for me.

Vs 11-16 I am to walk in joy, peace and rest! Jesus gave me a free gift of right standing with God.

Read the chapter and understand who you are and that you are to REST in Him! Rest means to relax and don’t become distraught at the situation. Won’t your ABBA, your Daddy, take care of you, not because of YOUR goodness but because of Jesus goodness and gift of right standing for you?

What a life! A life of rest, peace and joy as He overcomes life for me.

Blessings
