There are two sides to life. One is the natural side that cannot be ignored. If you eat too much you will get fat and die prematurely. No way around it. We were not meant to be fat. Death will come much earlier than it should. I saw an instagram reel of all these extreme fat people boasting and celebrating their fatness, wanting others to appreciate it and and join in with them in their fatness. But then it went on to show that every single one is now dead! And they were relatively young! Sin wants you to celebrate and participate, but quickly it devours you and kills you. Read 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 concerning living in this body.
Then there is another side of life that few find. It’s the spiritual side. Yes, stars go after the spiritual side of life seeking help for the careers, but they seek the spiritual side of life through a method that God forbids because it leads to death. Sure they may find fame and fortune but it serves them no good when their life is snuffed out by the very ones they sought.
God makes it very clear that He is spirit, and He must be worshipped in Spirit (Holy Spirit) and in Truth (Jesus), John 4:24). He tells us that we have a spirit, but due to sin, that spirit part of us is dead and must be made new and alive, (John 3:5). If you’re born again and filled with the Spirit in baptism then you know when you encounter someone who is still dead. It’s as if you’re living in two different realities.
How can a dead in spirit person, leave this reality and go to a new reality, one that is Spirit and Truth called Heaven, when you are dead in spirit and you do not know God who is Spirit? You can’t!
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” John 3:3
There are two parts of life that are critical. Our physical wellbeing that God promises to tend to, if you belong to Him and if you’re willing to follow Him in His plan for your physical body. Then there is the spirit part of you that will never cease to exist. It will live on, somewhere! Heaven or hell, the choice is yours. He’s given you all the answers. But it’s up to you to go after them and find them, just as it’s up to you to choose food wisely so as not to die before your time.
