The Victor's Crown

Here in the US we are ignorant in many ways of the rest of the world. The heathen, idol worshipping backgrounds of all the rest of the ancient world. Even the Olympics got their start  in Olympia, Greece, the site of Zeus worship. Each city state would send representatives to Olympia to become supreme in physical competition.

“…The traditional Greek view that the gods championed a winner, so by establishing a competition aimed at producing supreme winners, they were thereby asserting the power and influence on humans of the supreme god, Zeus.”

It is said that the winners were examined after the event to be sure they won by lawful means. When our race is done, and you are examined and the books are opened, what will be found? Are you there because you ran the race lawfully and won? When the book of your life is opened, will you deserve the winners crown? Or will you be turned away and your winners crown forsaken, because you were a cheater? Only by the blood of the Lamb may we receive the victors crown! No amount of good deeds can by the crown for that would be cheating!

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me John 14:6

So Jesus spoke again, “I assure you that I am the gate of the sheep. 8 All who came before me were thieves and outlaws, but the sheep didn’t listen to them. 9 I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture. 10 The thief enters only to steal, kill, and destroy. John 10:7-10

Run your race in His merciful grace and you will win the crown of life!
