Do you feel like screaming if you hear that word “Identity” one more time? I turned on the news and they were talking about the Pope blessing homosexuals and then they moved on to the 24 yr old aid, making homosexual videos in the senate hearing room and yet he said he has NEVER disrespected his work place! Then I saw on Instagram a “woman”, known in the community as an LGBTQ+ advocate, who has been arrested for molesting two boys under 13. It’s a man that looks like a woman, has breasts, but was talking about retaining his male parts. It’s all about his “identity”!
I remember the fight for identity! We ALL go through it. When you’re first aware of the family you’re in, your identity struggle begins. I remember pondering why I was here probably around six years old! Yes, identity starts early! In high school you had the football toughs, the cheer-leaders, the most popular, that was identity!!!! They were good at something and capitalized on it! Everyone does it, for until we realize we were born to commune with God, yes, have a relationship with Him, and outside that reality every person breathing will struggle with identity. You may not change your sex but how about worry? Are you so worried you can’t sleep at night? Is your mind tormented? A mind not at rest is a mind struggling with identity. Even Christians can struggle with identity from a lack of knowledge. They don’t yet understand who they are in Him and what He did to give them a new identity.
Your job, although you may be excellent at it and it provides you a lot of money and you have made that your identity, it will not save you. Adults all over, struggle even late in life with identity. Never achieving what they wanted possibly. Their life not going the direction they envisioned. Sin taking them where they never intended to go.
The only answer is Jesus! You were born to have an eternal relationship with God. When you reconcile to Him, His way, through Jesus, you will have contentment and relationship and IDENTITY that you’ve been searching for all your life!
Spare your children the agony. Teach them day one why they’re here! For if their identity is in anything else, they will struggle through life and miss the eternal fellowship of God in the end.
“The people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.” Is 43:21
Yeah, it really is all about identity.
Blessings
