Why He Came

We got word that a man that we know died overnight at 57. They presume a heart attack. The last few days we have heard of death and suicide. Too many! A friend said talking to employees where he is a chaplain, “This is not a good time of year for so many.” I remember as a child, my grandfather died on Christmas Day. But David comes to my mind for all those who are hurting. David had sinned. He had a baby with a woman after sending her husband to the front lines of battle, in hopes he would be killed and he was. The baby was born and only lived 7 days. David was distraught and repentant during the 7 days. When the baby died, he put away his grief and got back to living. His friends and servants couldn’t believe it! They asked him, “David, while the baby was alive you were beside yourself. Now the baby is gone and you’re not distraught with grief. David, what’s the deal?” David answered them, “And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” 2 Sam 2:22-23

If this is a rough time of year for you, don’t despair! Focus on the one that came at Christmas so you can see the one you love again! You shall go to them very soon! Look forward that, for that’s why He came, to reunite us with Him and with the ones we love. It’s going to be magnificent, just like Him. For those who love him!

Blessings
