Desires Of The Heart

I lacked inspiration yesterday because I have been studying giants for Preppers,  but this morning, I read the best story of a little girl who for several years in a row, circled in the gift catalog a special watch for Christmas. Never speaking her wants, only circling them and with great expectation, year after year, she waited until the end to open the smallest box, that could possibly be the beloved watch. But to her disappointment it was not to be.

The next year, she carried the usual Christmas order to the post office for her mother, it was nearing that time again. Holding the envelope up to the sun, she could read the order form. There was indeed a watch on the order form! But not the watch she had waited so long for. With a heavy heart, she waited daily for the package to come, but it seemed to be lost. On Christmas morning the small package was there, and familiar anticipation filled her heart, even though  she knew the contents. Habit I guess. But tucked inside the blue velvet box was a note: “Dear customer: We regret that we were unable to fill your order as requested. We therefore substituted with merchandise of equal value or better.” There in the blue velvet box was not the watch that was ordered, but the watch that had been desired for many years!

She said, “I believe God understood my yearnings, and in His providential plan, He knew I would wear that watch for many years as a symbol of willingness to give, if only I would put Him first. Psalm 37:4 came true for me that day: Delight thyself also in the Lord, and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

God knows you. He loves you. Relish in that love today and rest in His provincial care.

Blessings
