Reminded

Over the years I have wrestled with hearing one horrific testimony after another. Must I hear one more horror story of how someone came to Christ? Can’t anyone come apart from pain and abuse? Now I realize the answer is “No”! No one who has drawn a breath has not experienced the hatred of the enemy for their soul, all because they are made in God’s image and because that person is born into Satan’s kingdom. Born separated from God. Everyone has a story and NONE are void of pain.

Psalms 25:7 Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions;
According to Your mercy remember me,
For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.

Jesus forgets who you were before Him, but we typically don’t. This is a great shame of the church. The Bible says we are NEW CREATURES. The old is gone and the new has come. What we need to do is see these horror stories as hope for the next person!

Satan is so sly and never gives up. God has forgotten, but Satan won’t let YOU forget! He brings it up at the most inopportune time. I think Niki Cruz in his book Soul Obsession is so right, “That is the key to climbing out of the dungeon, the key to changing old habits and dead-end lifestyles, to leaving behind a life of sin for a future of holy living. The key is to lay it down, to let it go, to let the past be the past and look instead toward Jesus - toward the true future.”

Forget your past and when He reminds you of it REJOICE and tell him, “Thank you for reminding me of what Jesus has done for me! Isn’t it marvelous?”

Blessings
