It's A Killer

That nasty little word that can get you killed. King Nebuchadnezzar had it and he exalted himself as God, and spent 7 years out in the wilderness, deposed from his kingdom, eating grass like an animal. When the 7 years of chastisement were over, Nebuchadnezzar repented.

King Herod had it and accepted the (pretend) worship from the deputies from Tyre and Sidon who needed the kings country and alliance for food. An Angel struck King Herod and he was infested with worms and died 5 days later.

Pride is just as bad as any sin you can name, maybe worse. We are all tempted with pride. Pride makes us feel better about ourselves. Jesus shows us who we really are. Humans born with a nature to sin. A nature to take credit for what God has done in our lives and is doing. Yes, pride is a hideous sin.

Saul had loads of it, until He came face to face with the One who created the universe. Saul repented and became Paul. This is what he said about it:

“If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin; a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, persecuting the church; as to righteousness in the law, faultless. But whatever was gain to me I count as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God on the basis of faith.” Philippians 3:4-9

Check your ‘pride meter’ today before it’s too late. God won’t share His glory with you or anyone else.

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but think of yourself with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you. Rom 12:3
