I know Why

I know why the disciples are referred to as "da-ciples" and I know why Peter would be picked on.  Walking, talking, following Jesus, his fallen nature, his humanity was showing through.  But then we see Peter, a stalwart of the faith, raising people from the dead, healing the paralyzed!  But what we fail to see is that, his power to do those thing came AFTER  Jesus wen back to heaven!

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Peter kinda gets a bad rap, but in truth all our humanity shows through!  We expect more from him BEFORE he had the baptism in the Holy Spirit.  Could we do any better?  Jesus the man, though no sin nature resided in Him, still had to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

The infilling of the Holy Spirit comes after the new birth, and a study of Jesus life, as well as Peters will exemplify this much needed truth.  Power for living for Christ comes through the infilling of the Holy Spirit.  Peter was different after the day of Pentecost, as was everyone else that was there!  It's being filled and THEN yielding to the Holy Spirit verses the flesh.  It's a learning process.  Learning to listen to the Holy Spirit verses your logic, reason and flesh.

Blessings
