The Dilemma

The Dilemma

Some years ago I heard the voice of the Lord very clearly tell me something. Two other people I know heard the voice of the Lord tell them the same exact  thing, but in different ways than me. We waited. It never happened. I was so very frustrated with this situation and wrested with understanding it. I couldn’t say I didn’t hear, because it was confirmed. Not by one person but by two people! So, therefore I really did hear from the Lord but it didn’t happen.

So many times the answers are right before our eyes, but we simply do not grasp the truth. 1 Samuel 23:1-13 “David inquired of God.” And God answered him. David asked a question of the current circumstances and God confirmed it. Then David asked a question about the FUTURE that had not occurred yet and God knowing the future, answered. David took the information and made a decision ALTERING the future.

“God for-knew the future. That foreknowledge did NOT propel the event. All of this means that what we should choose to do is an important part of how things will turn out. What we do matters.”

Abraham had a word from the Lord but chose not to wait. It seemed too long and that was exactly the case with our situation. In our minds it took too long. “God has decreed the ends to which all things will come. As believers, we are prompted by his Spirit to be the good means to those decreed ends.”

“In other words God knows what COULD happen as well as what WILL happen and in His sovereignty, He works with our decisions to obey or not to obey.”

So in my situation because God told me the future, and all parties involved did not choose to obey, their decisions altered the future. But that did not mean God was wrong.

We all have a choice to obey or disobey. To wait or not to wait. God still blessed Abraham, but the result was much different in some aspects than God planned. In our case as well. God is merciful and yes, He’s still sovereign over the end.

Blessings
