Embrace Death

My friend recently saw a pink, light-up Halloween decoration that read, “Embrace Death.” It was meant to be cheeky, maybe even edgy—but it struck me as chillingly prophetic.
I’ve heard that in the latest Wicked 2 movie, Glinda is portrayed as feeling sympathy for Elphaba Thropp—the Wicked Witch. In Disney’s remakes, like 101 Dalmatians, the narrative shifts to make us feel sorry for villains like Cruella DeVille. I heard a pastor say that these portrayals are so seductive, they make mothers want their daughters to be like her! I haven’t seen these films, and I don’t plan to. But they reminded me of something I taught at Preppers, in a message called Gargoyles Around Your Heart, based on the horrific story in Judges 19.
That chapter ends with a haunting call: “Consider it, take counsel, and speak.” It’s a story soaked in violence, depravity, and death. And it struck me—fresh and fierce—how sin always leads to death. Not sometimes. Not eventually. Always.
Yet today, we’re being conditioned to embrace sin. To justify it. To excuse it. To tolerate it. To celebrate it. And in doing so, we are embracing death.
Sin brings physical death. Sin brings spiritual death. Sin brings eternal separation from God. And when we embrace sin, we are not just flirting with danger—we are welcoming destruction.
So how do we escape?
We begin by acknowledging the truth:
• Sin is wrong.
• I am a sinner.
• I cannot think right or do right on my own.
• I need a Savior.
Only Jesus can save us from the sin that stalks us. Only He can pay the debt we owe—a debt we cannot settle here or in eternity. He took death upon Himself so we wouldn’t have to embrace it.
So I ask you: Are you embracing death through your tolerance? Are you justifying what God calls evil? Are you making peace with what leads to destruction?
Consider it. Think about it. Talk about it. And above all—choose life.

Blessings
