Effortless Change

Effortless Change: When Desire Meets Surrender

I’ve been listening to Beckett Cook’s podcasts lately, and they’ve been deeply moving. Beckett, a former homosexual, invites others with similar backgrounds to share their stories—raw, redemptive, and full of supernatural transformation. What strikes me most is a common thread: they no longer have the desire for the same sex. That’s not something they forced or faked—it’s something that changed within them.
It reminds me of Psalm 37:4 (KJV):
“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
We often quote the second half—“He shall give thee the desires of thine heart”—as if it’s a promise to fulfill whatever we want. But we miss the key: “Delight thyself also in the LORD.” That’s the condition. That’s the transformation point.
Let’s be honest—man’s natural desires are corrupt. Would God grant desires that contradict His design, His holiness, or His will? Absolutely not. If someone chooses to go against Him, He allows it. But if you belong to Him—adopted through the blood of Jesus, the Lamb of God—then something miraculous happens: He gives you new desires.
This is what Beckett’s guests testify to. Their hearts were changed—not by striving, not by self-effort, but by surrender. As they delighted in the Lord, He reshaped their identity, healed their wounds, and rewrote their desires to reflect His heart.
This isn’t just about homosexuality. It applies to any sin, any brokenness, any false identity. When you pursue God with all your heart, He does the work in you. It’s not behavior modification—it’s heart transformation. And it’s effortless, because it’s supernatural.
So if you’re struggling, wondering if change is possible—know this: delight in Him, and watch Him change your desires from the inside out.

Blessings
