In With The Old

How can we as a body of Christ, a church, compete with “Brews and Brats”, Wrestling, church in a brewery or “Weed Day”? Yes, I’m speaking of all these things in church. Well, we can’t! And honestly we don’t want to. We’ve all tried the world, and for everyone I know, for them it ended in heartache. The former alcoholic that was delivered from sure death, can’t appreciate “Brews and Brats”. The young person who told me they left their body in a “Weed Day” event, can’t appreciate “Weed Day”. The man with a lust problem was sent over the edge with “Come as you are day”, where women went to church in bikinis.

God never called the church to entertain!!!!! You can get all the entertainment you want on your own. The church is to be a hospital, a trauma center for the crushed, and the broken. The ones that the sun may not come up for tomorrow, because they took their own life today. Church is for the ones battling confusing sexual desires, addiction, loneliness, and heart ache.

If you’re coming to church to find someone to agree with you and support your sin, we are not that church. We may not entertain you, but what we will do is make sense of what you’re going through. We will comfort you, feel for you, love you. We will pray with you for God to show you the Truth of why you’re in this position. We will help you to find God, for He wants to be found by you. We will be there for you to talk to, and cry to, and not just on Sunday.

So how can we compete with this new and seemingly fun church fad? Well, we can’t. We instead think it’s time to throw out the new, the fads, the stupid, and bring in the old. The old rugged cross that has never, not once failed us.

Ready for “in with the old”?

Blessings
